Our Story

On July 16, 2003, following the impression of the Holy Spirit upon his heart, Reverend Jimmy McRae established what is Greater Destiny International Ministries, Inc. Under his leadership, the ministry began with approximately twenty adult members and their children supporting what may have seemed small to others but appeared vast in the eyes of those who were destined to survive.

With no facility to hold worship services initially, God showed Himself to be faithful to His people by opening various doors on the ministry’s behalf and what began in a local daycare center eventually led to the room of an available duplex. The ministry quickly outgrew the space and later acquired both sides of the duplex as God continued to show Himself faithful to His people and prove that He was not finished yet!

Time passed and the ministry continued to grow, Pastor McRae's vision began to turn and the focus shifted toward finding a place of worship for the people to call their own. As a result in December 2005, the vision of this facility finally manifested, and with the construction of phase one of the present facility almost complete, services began in a building that Greater Destiny could finally call home - 613 East Baker Highway. In April of 2006, Pastor McRae transitioned to Overseer and appointed Assistant Pastor, Rueben Speight, to Pastor as the Lord continued and continues to bless the ministry greatly.
Under his leadership, Pastor Speight continued to carry out the vision. During a time of economic stress within our community, the ministry stepped out on faith to begin construction of a new worship facility - 580 South McDonald. The building that we stand in today is a direct representation of the goodness of God! On March 8, 2020, roughly ten years after the initial build of the current facilities, we celebrated with a Mortage Burning service - rejoicing over the fact that in just a few short years, the church was paid in full!

GDIM as it is affectionately known by its members has seen exponential growth and we look forward to continuing the legacy of our Founders: a safe place for our members and covenant partners to pursue their destiny. The ministry strives to pursue excellence in the body of Christ and to convey that same excellence in every capacity. The history of Greater Destiny has only just begun and for this reason, we invite you to be a part as we pursue greater in Him.
